Good... and Bad TV Shows

I could go so many places with this because I have seen my fair share of TV shows. I'm just going to recall some of my favorites and some of my disappointments. I'm only writing about shows that I have watched a sufficient amount of episodes to be able to judges the whole series. By this I mean 15 or more episodes.

Let's start off with the bad:

Cougar Town: I can't even express how much this show bugs me.  First of all, Courteney Cox is a terrible actress. I don't even know how she got to be on a successful show like Friends when her costars were so fantastic. Second of all, I'm not content with how much she complains about her aging. It's really not a good message to send out to women that don't age like celebrity's like Courteney Cox with bot-ox and plastic surgery.

Kyle XY: My oh my was this a sad, sad show. It did actually have a good idea but it turned stupid real fast. The first few episodes were good but they ran out of ideas after the first season. I was very disappointed.

Chuck: I followed  Chuck for a while  but I got disinterested after the 2nd season. It has a good concept with well developed characters, but it is obvious that they started running out of creative directions for the plot to go. 


Glee: Oh my word!  I know I'm gonna ruffle some feathers with this one but this show represents everything wrong with our world to me. Very shallow, all the cliche's (if I have to see one more pregnant teenager on a TV show I'm going to cry), popular people and geeks, I just don't like it. I don't particularly like much of the acting. I only like a few of the characters. I do like some of the music though. But yeah... with all the buzz I heard about this I was super disappointing.

My Guilty Pleasures:

Wizards of Waverly Place: I really like Selena Gomez. I just enjoy a lot of the humor in the show. It can be pretty cheesy but it's fun and light hearted. Just something fun to watch when I don't have much else to do. 

SpongeBob SquarePants: Hehehehe. I just like Spongebob I don't think that most people realize how funny it is. It has so much subtle humor. And Patrick is the best. 

My So-Called Life:Dumbest/Lamest show ever but guess what, it's entertaining. If you don't know about this show I don't blame ya because it was a very short lived show in the 90s. It's a real teen cliche but it's fun. 

Bachelor/ Bachelorette: I'm just ashamed about enjoying this one but it's so much fun. I just get pulled into it. Once you watch a couple shows and you pick your favorite contestants, you have to figure out how it's going to end. Plus, for a hopeless romantic like me, it's really lovely. Makes me want to get engaged really badly though.


iCarly: A lot of why I like this show is just because of the memories tied to it. But it is funny. Spencer is pretty funny. Some of it is majorly stupid. Oh! And shout out to a TV show based in Seattle! Woot woot!

Mixed Feelings About These Ones:

Grey's Anatomy: My word this show is dramatic! But that's also what makes it entertaining. There are times that I love the plot and others where I just think it's really stupid. For example some really weird illnesses that are ridiculous. It also seems like there needs to be gays or lesbians in every show these days to make it "politically correct." I just find it weird when people change there sexual identity half way through a show. Anyways, just my opinion since this is my blog.

Bones: Again, some episodes can be really interesting but some can be really dull. I think that the acting to be way better as well. I think the network places a high priority on the show. 

Desperate Housewives:  I feel like I'm just going to repeat myself with these. Again, sometime good, sometimes really cheesy. I do like how they portray different kinds of marriages though. Like Lynette and Tom are a pretty good couple. Lynette's character just makes me smile. She is just a strong but sweet woman. 

The Class: This show ended up being a flop but I kinda liked it. Not all of the characters were good but I liked most of them. But I can definitely see how the plot line was soon to fizzle out. Kinda a dead end. But "How I Met Your Mother" has worked out even though it seems like a dead end. 

LOST: Oh my word! This makes me laugh a little. Obviously the show was popular but it was a little crazy. I think it started out really strong but it kinda seemed like they lost there way a little with what they wanted to do. It's like the smoke monster came and was just forgotten about forever. They also left some plot lines open without resolving them. It just seemed like they were running out of flashback ideas and out of plot line creativity.

Not Half Bad:

Criminal Minds: This show is pretty darn fascinating. It's very intellectual and interesting. It can definitely hold my attention. I like most of the characters. It's also very unique for a crime show. It also has a nice balance of being slightly scary but hardly gruesome. 

The King of Queens: Oh this makes me laugh. It's just very clever and witty. Who doesn't want to watch the life of a fat truck driver? The only thing that I get a little sick of is Carrie. She's a little to strong of a character sometimes and it can get a little annoying. But overall a fun show. It's also hardly ever crude which is really nice in a modern day sitcom. 

The Big Bang Theory: We need intellectual shows like this that show the nerds as being awesome. I think it can be really funny and the characters are played so well. This one has failed me a couple times with my criteria of a good plot line but it still has carried itself well. 

Reba: Oh Reba! This show just has a lot of funny characters. Nice southern family is fun to see on TV. It is a little dumb though that a teenager gets pregnant in it although I think they handle it well in this show. It definitely shows good family values of loving each other through thick and thin even when people make mistakes. 

Samantha Who: I can't believe this show got let go. I personally thought it was great. I really love Christina Applegate. I think she's hilarious. I'm just sad other people weren't as enthused as I was about it. 

Blossom: This show has been forgotten a little but it was a huge hit. It showed good family values and real characters with real hurts and struggles. Blossom was wise beyond her years which showed teenagers that they too could be mature young adults. 

Best For Last:

How I Met Your Mother: Has been and will remain a fantastic show. Although it can be a little corny at times and I'm not impressed with the acting of Cobie Smulders, the overall humor and tag lines keep the show incredible entertaining. However, I don't know how long they can drag out introducing the mother before the show gets a little repetitive. 

Modern Family: I am in love with this show. It is brilliant. I think the family dynamics are hilarious and the humor is my kind of humor. This show is rarely inappropriate and when it is it's not that bad. I just think the characters are all really funny and who doesn't like Gloria? She's fantastic. She makes me laugh more than any of the other characters. Yes, this is my favorite show right now. 

Monk: I'm not as into Monk as I used to be but I still think it's really fun. Monk can be really funny although his over the top OCD-ness can get kind of annoying. But I really did enjoy the show. 

Scrubs: Again, I think this is hilarious. So many funny characters. The only person I really didn't like in that show is Christa Miller. She also happens to be in Cougar Town. Yeah. Apparently she only play one kind of really annoying character. Other than her though, the show was really funny. Not your average hospital show. It was very unique. 

Friends: Friends has something for everyone. Not every episode is appropriate for kids but there are quite a few. Women can enjoy it because of the diverse female characters and men can enjoy the real life situations the male characters face. It's just nice to see a good group of friends stay close for a long time. Again, Courtney Cox cannot act but she's the only bad part of that show.

Pushing Daisies: I can't believe they ended this show. It's such a shame. The concept was really unique and had well developed characters. The cinematography just made my heart melt. It was so beautiful. The whole atmosphere created in that show brought me to a whole other world. It was amazing. Kristin Chenoweth always adds something special to everything she's in. I love her. 

Gilmore Girls: Classic! To be honest I'm not a fan of Alexis Bledel. She's not a good actress but she just pretty to look at with her constant naive expression. It's true. It gets old. But! I really love Lauren Graham. I love her witty humor and I think she is a good mother in the show. It's very lovely to see a good mother daughter relationship on TV. It shows teenagers that they can have a relationship with their parents.

Cosby Show: Ground breaking in it's time, this show will remain in history forever. Being the first show to be centered around an African American family, it really set the bar high. Bill Cosby is so funny and such a loving father to his kids. He's just a down to earth guy. The whole family is really fun. They are very real characters. It's also fun to see the 80s fashion as it evolves throughout the show. This show is very appropriate and something that the whole family could enjoy.

There are a few more oldies I could mention and probably a lot more awful ones but I'll leave it at this.
